Sparky Pro is a browser extension that assists students with educational platforms including Sparx Maths, Sparx Reader, Sparx Science, MathsWatch, and Seneca Learning. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension collects, why it collects it, and how it is used.
By installing and using Sparky Pro, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data collected is used solely to provide and improve the functionality of the Sparky Pro extension.

Sparky Pro collects the following categories of data in order to function:
Device Fingerprint
A unique identifier generated from your browser and hardware characteristics using Fingerprint2. Used to verify your licence and prevent sharing of Pro keys.
Licence Key
Your Sparky Pro activation key, stored locally in chrome.storage.local and sent to our API to verify your subscription status.
Tab Screenshots
Screenshots of your active browser tab are captured and sent to our API to solve maths questions. Screenshots are not stored permanently.
Question & Answer Data
When questions are answered correctly on Sparx Reader, the question text, story content, and answers may be submitted to our database to build a shared question bank.
Page Content
HTML content from supported educational pages is extracted and sent to our API for analysis to generate answers. This content is not stored beyond the duration of a solving session.
Active Tab URL
The URL of your active tab is read to determine which educational platform you are using, so the correct solver can be activated.
We do not collect your name, email address, passwords, payment information, or any data from websites other than those listed in the extension's host permissions.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating Sparky Pro.

Sparky Pro communicates with the following external services:
generativelanguage.googleapis.com) — Used for AI-powered question answering. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.api.mistral.ai) — An alternative AI model used for certain question types. Subject to Mistral's Privacy Policy.We do not share your data with any third party beyond what is necessary to operate the services listed above.

The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

Screenshots and page content sent to our API are processed in memory and are not permanently stored on our servers. Question and answer data submitted to our database is retained indefinitely to improve the shared question bank.
Our servers are located within the United Kingdom. If you are located outside this region, your data may be transferred internationally when contacting our API.

Sparky Pro is an educational tool intended to be used by students, which may include users under the age of 13. We are committed to protecting children's privacy.
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The data we collect (device fingerprints, page content, screenshots) does not include names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personally identifiable information through the extension, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.
